Research focusing on the relationship between training, internal communication, and performance of the
government employee is limited. This study aims to identify the influence of training on the employees
performance, considering the internal communication as the mediating variable. This study used questionnaires to
collect data concerning the variables being investigated. The sample of this study comprises 323 employees
working for the Office of Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia. The data were analyzed using a
structural equation modeling with a partial least square approach. The result of the study shows that training has a
significant influence on communication, but not on the employee performance. The internal communication itself
has a significant influence on the employee performance. The results of this study indicate that the effect of training
on employee performance is taking place indirectly, namely through internal communication
